The Case Against William

The Case Against William

Criminal defense lawyers must make their peace with one harsh fact of life: most of their clients are guilty.

But when William Tucker, a celebrated and self-centered star college football player, is suddenly arrested and charged with the brutal rape and murder of a college coed two years before, his estranged father, Frank Tucker, a drunken, broken-down, beach-bum ex-criminal defense lawyer, cannot believe his son is guilty. No father can. So he must find a way to sober up and save his son from the death penalty sought by an ambitious district attorney. And father and son learn that only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and a father’s love for his son.

The Absence of Guilt

The Absence of Guilt

An ISIS attack on America is narrowly averted when the FBI uncovers a plot to detonate a weapon of mass destruction in Cowboys Stadium during the Super Bowl. A federal grand jury indicts twenty-four co-conspirators, including the most dangerous man in Dallas, Omar al Mustafa. He is a notorious and charismatic Muslim cleric known for his incendiary anti-American diatribes on YouTube and Fox News. His mosque is a veritable breeding ground for Islamic jihadists. His arrest is greeted with cheers around the world and relief at home. The plot was thwarted, the terrorists are in jail, and the Super Bowl is safe. The president goes on national television and proclaims: “We won!”

There is only one problem: there is no evidence against Mustafa. That problem falls to the presiding judge, newly appointed U.S. District Judge A. Scott Fenney. If Mustafa is innocent, Scott must set the most dangerous man in Dallas free. But does the absence of guilt mean Mustafa is innocent? And if he is innocent, who is guilty?

The Super Bowl is just three weeks away. And the game clock is ticking.

Editorial Reviews:

“A cracking read.”
The Times (UK)

“Pulse-pounding narrative.”
Booklist

“Gimenez has written a startling, multilayered thriller in which complex characters and a fast-moving plot grab the reader immediately. Smart dialog and a spunky Gracie, who never loses her cool, make for a memorable read that twists and turns until the final, cinematic conclusion.”
Library Journal (starred review)

“After the stunning success of a first novel, there’s always the question if the author can do it again with the second and, fortunately, in this case, Gimenez not only surpasses his own preliminary standards of excellence, but those of the entire genre. Not only does he offer up an adventurous plot that races forward at a breakneck speed filled with a cast of multi-faceted and poignantly drawn characters, but he also puts forth some concepts and questions that provoke and compel the reader’s consideration long after the last page is turned. . . . But perhaps most notable of all might just be this book’s ability to elicit just about every emotional response possible from the reader. Whether it’s laughter or tears, dread or anticipation, be prepared to feel something while reading this glorious adventure that only seems to gain momentum with every page. . . . Ultimately, a forceful, exhilarating, and effervescent read of faith and redemption, loyalty and love, truth and purpose, and one that unreservedly qualifies as one of the best to come along this year.”
New Mystery Reader Magazine

“THE ABDUCTION is much more than a scaled-down version of Commando, however. While stuffed to its considerable brim in action, it is as much about relationships as strategy. Gimenez skillfully weaves the narrative while creating a tantalizing mystery—the ‘why’ of Gracie’s abduction—that will keep you guessing until almost the very end. There are secrets and excitement and just about everything you would ever want from a reading experience.”
Bookreporter.com

“There are times when life gets so overwhelming that even a good book can’t keep your mind from wandering. That’s when you need a super-riveting read like this to take you away. It’s a tale with a normally hard-to-take premise—child abduction. But in the hands of bestselling author Mark Gimenez, it becomes a tale of humanity, heroism, and hope, with complex characters who jump off the page. Boy can this guy tell a story!”
Book-of-the-Month club

“A top-of-the-line thriller . . . Impossible to put down, the book is a nail-biter from beginning to end, as a family’s dark secrets emerge during the worst event of their lives.”
Romantic Times

“The Abduction is fast-paced and truly impossible to put down. It is also by far one of the best thrillers I have read in a long time.”
Wichita Falls Times

“Gimenez’s writing is explosive, fast-paced, and filled with unexpected plot twists that keep readers guessing right up to the last page.”
Houston Press

“Another explosive thriller that is impossible to put down. . . . Plenty of twists and turns, and a plot that keeps you guessing right until the end. Definitely not one to miss.”

Con Law

Con Law

John Bookman—Book to his friends—is a tenured professor at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin. He rides a Harley and wears jeans and cowboy boots and his hair too long to suit the conservative dean. He’s thirty-five, handsome and unmarried but seldom without a female companion. He teaches karate and Con Law, law school vernacular for Constitutional Law. He is a recognized constitutional law expert, debates senators on political talk shows and reduces them to blithering fools, writes scathing op-eds, and is often mentioned as a possible Supreme Court nominee. He is famous for taking on lost causes and winning. Consequently, when he arrives at the law school each Monday morning, hundreds of letters await him, letters from lost causes around the country seeking his help. Some letters are funny, others are sad, most are hopeless. But every now and then, one letter captures his attention. Then, with only his latest law school intern in tow, Professor Bookman takes off on yet another adventure—not in search of ancient artifacts like Indiana Jones, but in search of truth and justice—”or as close thereto as the law allows.” In this first installment of a new series, Book investigates a murder in the world of art and fracking in Marfa, Texas.

Reviews:

“There cannot be any dispute. Gimenez has taken over John Grisham’s mantle. This is his seventh legal thriller, and his work is now faster and fresher than Grisham, his characters are stronger, and his plot lines reek of tomorrow’s headlines. This one centres on ‘fracking’; the removal of gas from shale oil deposits, which is now the subject of fierce political debate in Britain as well as America. . . . It takes a positive delight in the intricacies of the law, but with a good helping of action thrown in, and it underlines just how much Gimenez has taken over Grisham’s territory.”
Daily Mail (UK)

Same brilliant storyteller, brand new character to follow. Gimenez does law mysteries every bit as good as John Grisham, and this latest effort won’t disappoint fans of that master. . . . Gimenez is a great and growing writer who hasn’t let his readers down yet, and doesn’t look likely to.”
